ALBANY, N.Y., Sept. 12, 2024— The New York Insurance Scholarship Foundation, Inc. (NYISF) has named Trevor Buckeridge from Hingham, Mass. and Sean Chen from New York, N.Y. as the foundation’s 2024–2025 New York Insurance Scholars. Buckeridge is a sophomore at the University of Connecticut majoring in actuarial science and minoring in computer science. Chen is a freshman at the New York University Stern School of Business majoring in business and risk management and minoring in data science and insurance.

“The New York Insurance Scholarship Foundation is thrilled to honor outstanding students like Trevor and Sean who are passionate about engaging in academic pursuits to prepare themselves for careers in the insurance and risk management fields,” Cassandra Anderson, president of NYISF said. “This year’s New York Insurance Scholars have demonstrated remarkable dedication to their studies, their communities and their future professions.”

The New York Insurance Scholars program encapsulates the work of the foundation and supports students by awarding annual scholarships to recipients for up to two years. The program also includes mentorships with seasoned insurance leaders, resources for potential jobs or internships and visibility and networking with industry executives.

The foundation was created to encourage scholastic achievement, community involvement and a commitment to advancing the insurance industry.
