ALBANY, N.Y., Oct. 9, 2025—The New York Insurance Scholarship Foundation, Inc. (NYISF) has named Peter J. Espinal, Derek Gould, and Aliyah Jordan as the foundation’s 2025–2026 New York Insurance Scholars. Espinal is a junior at St. John’s University majoring in actuarial science. Gould is a sophomore at the University of Connecticut majoring in mathematics, actuarial science and finance. Jordan is a junior at Georgia State University majoring in risk management and insurance.
“The New York Insurance Scholarship Foundation is excited to recognize Peter, Derek and Aliyah as outstanding examples of the future insurance workforce,” Cassandra Anderson, president of NYISF, said. “This year’s accomplished New York Insurance Scholars show dedication to their communities, schools and studies. Their academic success and involvement in local activities speak volumes about the impact they will have in a career that focuses on community service.”
The New York Insurance Scholars program supports students by awarding annual scholarships to recipients for up to two years. The program also includes resources for potential jobs or internships and visibility and networking with industry leaders.
The foundation was created to encourage scholastic achievement, community involvement and a commitment to advancing the insurance industry. “At the New York Insurance Scholarship Foundation, our primary goal is to support and foster the next generation as they grow into future industry leaders,” Anderson said. “By encouraging students interested in the many career opportunities the insurance industry can offer, we look to continue to promote a standard of excellence in the profession.”\
