NYISF Selects Pappas and Patrissi as 2023-2024 Scholars
ALBANY, N.Y., Sept. 15, 2023— The New York Insurance Scholarship Foundation, Inc. (NYISF) has named John Pappas from New Hyde Park, N.Y. and Tommy Patrissi from Avondale, Pa. as the foundation’s 2023–2024 New York Insurance Scholars. Pappas is a senior at St. John’s University and Patrissi is a senior at the Fox School of Business at Temple University, both students are majoring in risk management and insurance.
“The New York Insurance Scholarship Foundation is proud to recognize excellent students with a passion for the insurance and risk management industry like John and Tommy,” Cassandra Anderson, president of NYISF said. “The dedication of this year’s New York Insurance Scholars in evident by their exemplary commitment to their academics, communities and futures. Both scholars are hardworking and active in their universities as well as maintain admirable grade point averages.”
The New York Insurance Scholars program expands the work of the foundation and enhances the support provided to students by awarding annual scholarships to recipients for up to two years. The program also includes mentorships with seasoned insurance leaders, resources for potential jobs or internships and visibility and networking with industry executives.
The foundation was created to encourage scholastic achievement, community involvement and a commitment to advancing the insurance industry. Fostering and investing in the development of our future leaders is imperative to the sustainability of the insurance and risk management industry of tomorrow. “The rewarding careers in insurance are boundless because of the vitality of the industry and the professionals it employs,” Anderson said. “Encouraging and supporting the future workforce of the industry is the main focus of the New York Insurance Scholarship Foundation.”
The New York Insurance Scholarship Foundation, Inc. (NYISF) is a charity organization initiated by the property and casualty insurance industry that supports students interested in pursuing a career in insurance. The foundation is affiliated with the New York Insurance Association, Inc.
